Jeans: Five tips to make us feel great

Just because we’ve passed the 50 year mark doesn’t mean we have to say goodbye to our jeans.
For all those who think jeans don’t fit anymore, why not think twice? The right style, the right color, the right way to wear them: whether they’re new or old, these choices will be essential to keeping our jeans at the forefront of our fashion priorities.
1. Choosing the right fit
With so many different cuts and styles available in stores, it’s worth taking the time to think about what works best for your body type. Skinny jeans or jeggings work well for women with long legs and a slim figure. Straight cuts are still a classic and look great on most of us as they lengthen the legs, although they are less suitable for hourglass shapes as they draw attention to the hips. Boyfriend jeans, on the other hand, are both relaxed and loose fitting and look great on voluptuous women while adding volume to slim legs. Bootcut jeans are making a comeback and help balance out a luscious figure, while a more flared pair will appeal to athletic bodies with broad shoulders and narrow hips, adding feminine curves. If that pair of jeans has been sitting in your closet for a while, consider the possibility that your figure has changed over the years. So let’s be objective and opt for alterations if necessary.
2. Make a good investment
When it comes to jeans, it’s worth taking our time, and spending some money, to buy a pair that really fits. We’ve all bought jeans that we’ve tried on hundreds of times only to immediately take them off because they’re uncomfortable, unflattering or don’t match any other piece in our wardrobe. Isn’t it better to spend a few extra dollars to find a piece that we will wear very often? Let’s remember all those jeans that ended up in oblivion to avoid making the same mistakes!
3. Think about the color
What about colors? Colors from medium to dark blue are invariably flattering choices for the figure, and give a more serious look than faded tones. To keep colors from fading, there’s nothing like a color-preserving liquid laundry product optimized for cold washes, like Ariel Original. While the result remains optimal at only 30°C, patterned and colored clothes are protected.
4. Think about possible combinations
It’s time to splurge on stylish shoes, a fitted jacket and classic, understated accessories to complement your denim outfit. Skinny jeans are perfect with a top or a large tunic for more contrast. Straight cuts, on the other hand, go well with heels for a night out, as do bootcut jeans, which have the advantage of lengthening and refining our legs. For boyfriend jeans, just combine them with a nice blazer and mid-heeled boots. One thing is for sure, you don’t always have to listen to the fashion magazines when it comes to this season’s trends; the jeans that fit us best are the ones that suit our body shape and that we feel good in.
5. Regain some muscle tone
As we all know, jeans make our butt, legs and waist more visible, which should make us incorporate some exercises into our daily routine in order to regain our muscle tone, right? Front lunges, squats and bridges are great options for toning our glutes, thighs and abs and getting back to a balanced body. To take it up a notch, add weights or a resistance band and train three times a week.
